In the cradle of the valley

Calm as a prayer

A wildfire unfurls

Its furious hymn

Angry red flames

Claw at the velvet night

A fractured dawn

Born of destruction

The roar of its

Hunger swells

A beast breaking chairs

Dry leaves crackle

Like whispered secrets

A requiem for

The forgotten forest

Smoke curls

Acrid and thick

Lacing the air

With its bitter embrace

Ash stings the skin

Sharp as regret

While the wind's

Dry mouth tastes of ruin

I stand on this

Sacred ground

Roots bound in love

A tether pulling me

To the edge of decision

Should I flee

Abandon this Eden

To its fate

Or stand sentinel

Risk my breath

My bone

For a place that

has given me

Its every shade of green

Each heartbeat is

A match striking silence

Every thought

A shadow cast

In the fires cruel dance

I am torn-between

The ashes of tomorrow

And the soul that

Once held my dreams
